Charles Best is the leader of a nonprofit organization, DonorsChoose.org. This organization is well known to offer personal, simple as well as accountable ways to help people address the issue of educational inequity. The teachers in DonorsChoose.org post requests for classroom projects and the donors have the flexibility to choose any project and support it. Each of the donors is given a photograph. They also receive thank you letters from the classroom that they choose to support.
When he was young, he was influenced by his teacher and coach, who instilled the aspects of determination and integrity in him apart from tremendous sensitivity towards others. His sense of admiration and concern for others continued as he followed a path of high achievement.
After graduating from the St. Paul School in New Hamsphire,
he served as a president in one of the minority student organization. He was
very passionate about woodwork and building and studied further in Mexico and
Central America.
He created the website when he was 25 years to help teachers
post their needs to get support from public. He was completely overjoyed
concerning the fact that he was contributing to something worthy of
consideration.
Charles Best has launched the organization way back in theyear 2000 at the Wings Academy. It was an alternative high school in Bronx, New
York. He taught social studies for five years there. Teachers of almost half of
the public schools today have something to post for the projects of the
organization today. Some of the prominent supporters of the organization include
Melinda Gates Foundation, as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Bradley and Stephen
Colbert.
The DonorsChoose.org has been recognized by Nonprofit
Innovation Award by Amazon.com. The website has been known to make the world a
better place to live in. the Fortune Magazine has called Charles Best speaker as “"40 under 40 hottest rising stars in
business."
Oprah Winfrey in 2010 announced the website as the
"Ultimate Favorite Things." Fast Company in 2011 listed the website
as the "50 Most Innovative Companies in the World”. It is said to be the
first time that the any charity received such recognition.
Charles Best speaker has
earned his degree from the Yale University.
